Welcome to the web site of the Cornwall Group of the Trail Riders Fellowship.

So what is 'Trail Riding'

Trail riding is motorcycle touring, similar in the nature to pony trekking where the objective of the day is to enjoy the country side via historic and almost forgotten highways, known as 'Green lanes'. Trail riding allows people to get into the far reaches of the countryside away from traffic and its consequent dangers. It is a superb therapy for the stress of everyday living outside of the claustrophobic constraints of a car. Because all these routes are legally carriageways, we make sure that our machines are legal too, with number plates, silencers, tax and insurance, just like any other road machine. The only difference is that our models are usually chosen for lightness and simplicity, and kitted out for rough going rather than motorway use!

There are several ways of doing this but they all depend upon you having the kit (road-legal bike, clothing, helmet, gloves etc) and the time. Firstly I would suggest that you come to one of our meetings - click on the Contact Us buton above - and introduce yourself. Then you can come on a ride with us to see if you like the pastime of 'green laning'. Then you'll be expected to join the TRF

The Cornwall group does not charge a local fee, the meetings are free (you buy your own beer though!) and the runs we organise are free too.

As part of a nationwide organisation we can get to other parts of the country to go riding and be guided on the lanes by other TRF members.

The TRF fights to help us continue to ride the trails. We talk to local politicians, other countryside users, farmers and landowners to keep the lanes in Cornwall free for all to ride.
